World Language Induction Ceremony

The World Language National Honor Societies of Parsippany Hills High School cordially invite parents and friends to the ceremony, which takes place in April. New students will be inducted into the Honor Societies provided that they meet the criteria mentioned in the World Language Honor Societies section.  The inductees for each Society will recite their motto during the candle ceremony. In addition, we will present honor cords to our Seniors who have continued their language study maintaining high standards of these societies.

These are the colors for the Societies’ Honor Cords:
-Italian:  Green, white, red
-French:  Blue, white, red
-Spanish:  Red and gold

                                                                                                   Exams

Seal of Biliteracy:
PHHS offers seniors studying French, Italian and Spanish the opportunity to earn the New Jersey Seal of Biliteracy. This honor is awarded to students who demonstrate a high level of proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English. The Seal of Biliteracy includes a certificate prepared by the New Jersey Department of Education, a notation on the student's transcript, and recognition at graduation. This seal provides evidence of linguistic stills that are attractive to future employers and college admission officers.

National Exams:
Honors students in French, Italian and Spanish are selected to participate in leveled exams at the national level to compete for prestigious prizes and scholarships.

AP Exams:
AP Exams are offered in French, Italian and Spanish. A score of a 3 or above out of 5 can potentially earn college credit and advanced placement at the university level.
